Welcome to our second Talk Paper Quizzers episode where contestants answer trivia questions to compete for the completely fictional, completely worthless, yet highly-coveted “Apostrophe”!
We’re mixing it up this time and instead of having two contestants compete head-to-head, we have a live studio audience answering questions from the comfort of their homes. Our audience is made up of university-level typography students.
There will be 4 rounds of questions and you will be asked a total of 25 true/false questions related to the 4 topic areas:
Formatting your type (ex: type size, line length)
Focusing your type (ex: emphasizing using bold, underline, italicize)
Fine-tuning your type (ex: kerning, tracking, hyphenation)
Finessing your type (ex: figures, small caps, initial letters)
In other words, the categories are about putting type on a page, making keywords stand out, adjusting the spacing and subbing-in more suitable glyphs where necessary. All while sticking to best practices of typography.
Contestants in our live studio audience keep score at home. A member of our audience with the most points at the end of the game wins the Apostrophe! (We’re relying on the honour system here.)
So grab a cup of tea, glass of fizzy water or something stronger and I invite you to play along with our pub-quiz style show too. Let’s Talk Paper Quizzers!
